Dover Learning Center – Understanding Preschoolers

At Dover Learning Center, our Group Childcare Program is thoughtfully designed for children ages 2.5 to 5 years, offering a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment that supports every child’s growth. At this age, children are naturally curious, eager to communicate, and excited to explore the world around them. Our preschool program focuses on building the essential social, emotional, and cognitive skills that set a strong foundation for success in Kindergarten and beyond.

Your Preschooler’s Day

Each day begins with a warm welcome from caring educators who help children feel safe and connected. The daily routine balances structured learning opportunities with free play, giving children the confidence to navigate their environment and take pride in their accomplishments.

Throughout the day, preschoolers participate in:

• Circle time to build language and social skills

• Art and creative expression to encourage imagination and fine motor development

• Literacy and numeracy activities to prepare for Kindergarten

• Science and discovery play to spark curiosity

• Dramatic and pretend play to support social-emotional growth

• Outdoor play and movement for physical health and gross motor skills

Children are introduced to STREAM concepts (Science, Technology, Reading, Engineering, Arts, and Math) in age-appropriate ways, encouraging critical thinking and problem-solving through hands-on activities.

Rest time is included each day so children can recharge and return to their activities with energy and focus.

 

Special Enrichment Activities

In addition to core programming, we offer engaging activities such as music, yoga-inspired movement, sign language, and early literacy games. These experiences nurture creativity, body awareness, and communication while helping children develop essential life skills in a fun and supportive environment.

 

Nutrition

Healthy eating is an important part of your child’s growth and development. Dover Learning Center provides nutritious, balanced meals and snacks each day, encouraging children to explore new flavors while learning about healthy food choices. During family-style dining, children practice self-help skills, fine motor development, and independence by serving themselves with guidance from educators.
